iHemp NSW and our afflication with the Australian Hemp Council (AHC)

The AHC was established in August 2020 as an Incorporated Association registered in South Australia. The AHC was conceived to comprise seven member associations representing the hemp industry in each state and the NT. Each member association appoints a Councillor to join the AHC.

The seven Councilors constitute the Management Committee of the AHC Association and have full control over the affairs of the AHC.

The AHC also has provision for Affiliate Membership without voting rights. The AHC may establish subcommittees and other working groups to assist in the pursuit of its objectives.
While the AHC seeks to present a unified voice to government and national agencies, the state member associations remain fully autonomous and the AHC does not exercise any
control over its members’ internal affairs.

IHemp NSW Membership is now open for 2025-2026. We have three membership categories – and warmly welcome new members.

Janet Price

Treasurer

Janet trained and worked as a nurse and midwife. Initially, Janet pursued a pilot’s license thinking she would use this in conjunction with her nursing, but then she met Michael and adopted the relocating lifestyle of a serving army officer’s wife.

As a volunteer, Janet established the NSW School Canteen Association, eventually bringing together mainland State and Territories to form a national body. Janet served the Federation of Canteens in Schools as a volunteer Executive Director for ten years.

In the year 2000 Janet returned to the family farm to care for her aging father.  The constant moving and resettling of four children across Australia every one to two years for twenty-four years made it easy to buy and stay.

Janet changed what the farm produced by firstly growing spelt, and now licensed to grow hemp.  Janet has also been an owner-builder of a hemp home.

Recently Agrifutures acknowledged Janet for her concept of a hemp co-operative in Central West NSW, with the manufacturing of hemp insulation within the proposed rail hub at Parkes.

Always an active member in her community, Janet is currently the Public Officer for the local Lions Club and Treasurer of the iHemp NSW Association.
