Come and meet the founders and pioneers of Australia’s industrial hemp industry in the Northern Rivers. This immersive, hands-on field trip brings together growers, manufacturers, builders, retailers, and farmers for two days of learning, connection, and real-world insight.
You’ll step inside working hemp projects, hear directly from those building businesses on the ground, and take part in practical demonstrations that connect theory with lived experience.

Program Highlights
Industry Talks & Shared Experience
The program features talks from experienced hemp manufacturers, builders, and growers who will share their journeys, lessons learned, and insights into building sustainable hemp-based businesses in Australia.
Purpose-Led Hemp Retail
Sessions hosted by a local hemp retail space will explore how purpose-led hemp stores are developed and operated. You’ll see a curated range of hemp-based products, including cosmetics, clothing, self-care items, and general wares, all selected with sustainability at the core.
Hemp Homes & Healthy Buildings
Participants will visit hemp homes in the region that have been designed and built using hemp construction methods. These visits focus on healthy living environments, environmental responsibility, and high-quality craftsmanship.
Hempcrete in Practice
The day includes an interactive hempcrete mixing demonstration alongside a technical discussion covering:
- Hurd sourcing and quality
- Processing partnerships
- Real-world construction projects
This session concludes with Q&A and open discussion to support shared learning and practical understanding.

Event Details of the Northern Rivers Hemp Field Trip
Catering
- Light nibbles will be provided on Saturday afternoon
- Breakfast, lunch, and dinner on both days are at your own expense
- Where possible, we encourage participants to dine together to connect and build networks
Please bring a refillable water bottle and wear comfortable, sun-safe clothing.
Timing
All timings are approximate and subject to change. We will make every effort to notify participants of any schedule changes during the Field Trip.
Transport
This is a self-drive event. Carpooling is strongly encouraged.

The Northern Rivers Hemp Field Trip takes in locations across the Byron and Lismore Shires.

Please note: venue addresses will be provided to registered participants two weeks prior to the event.
Accommodation
iHemp NSW has provided a list of suggested accommodation options for participants.
Children
Parents and guardians are responsible for their children at all times.
Children aged 12 and under are unable to participate in workshops unless under direct and strict supervision of their parent or guardian.
Please advise how many children will be attending when registering.
Accessibility
Most venues are wheelchair accessible. However, as this field trip includes farms and outdoor sites, access from car parks and movement around some locations may be limited.
If you have specific accessibility needs or would like to discuss suitability in advance, please contact us before registering.
Cancellations
- Cancellations received up to 14 days prior to the event are eligible for a full refund
- Unfortunately, no refunds can be issued for cancellations within 14 days of the event
