Hempire Collective

Hempire Collective is an Australian hemp underwear label founded by Trimayne Meader, a fashion designer who recognised a deep disconnect between the beauty of design and the wastefulness of mainstream fashion. Leaving the industry behind, she followed a new path in Northern NSW; studying Permaculture and Natural Medicine and immersing herself in earth-based practices that honour natural cycles, sustainability, and women’s health.

It was through this transition that Trimayne became aware of how synthetic fabrics and chemical dyes, common in mainstream underwear, can disrupt the body’s natural balance. In 2019, travelling through India, Nepal, and China, she explored traditional textile villages and studied the ancient cultivation of hemp; discovering fibres that are naturally antibacterial, breathable, and deeply kind to the skin. These timeless practices continue to shape everything Hempire creates.

Devoted to natural fibres, low-tox living and conscious design, Hempire creates ethically minded intimates designed with comfort, simplicity and environmental awareness in mind.

Passionate about the future of hemp textiles in Australia, Hempire advocates for greater awareness and innovation within local hemp fibre cultivation, processing and manufacturing. As conversations continue around synthetic textiles, microplastic pollution and sustainable agriculture, we believe hemp offers significant potential within Australia’s evolving textile and agricultural landscape.

With strong agricultural foundations already established through industries such as cotton and sugar cane, we see exciting opportunities for hemp to become part of a more regenerative and locally connected fibre future. Our long-term vision is to establish a fully integrated Australian facility producing both hemp textiles and hemp-derived biodiesel. A truly closed-loop system where every part of the plant is used.

Through Hempire, we hope to contribute to wider conversations surrounding natural textiles, environmental health, conscious consumption and the future potential of Australian-grown and Australian-made hemp textiles. Looking ahead, our vision extends beyond underwear; exploring the full range of hemp’s textile potential to create everyday essentials that bring natural, low-tox fibres into every part of daily life.
