Interest in building with hemp, particularly hempcrete, is growing alongside ongoing innovation. Like any industry, it faces challenges. For supply chains to stabilise, increased uptake is essential, driven by education, advocacy, and policy.

The construction sector sits at the centre of the climate challenge. By sharing knowledge and real-world examples, we can accelerate a shift toward materials and practices that support both environmental and community outcomes.

Speakers

Narara Ecovillage Hemp House Residents

Megan is a Narara Ecovillage resident and hempcrete homeowner on the Central Coast of NSW. Her home features hempcrete walls, unfired mud brick, and a wealth of recycled materials — built with the help of her village community and designed around passive solar principles and natural finishes throughout.

Donna is a Narara Ecovillage resident whose home combines three natural building materials — hempcrete, rammed earth, and light straw. Designed for passive performance, she’s barely used her air conditioner in six years. The build prioritises recycled materials, food growing, rainwater harvesting, and off-grid energy resilience.

Harrison Marsh | Otetto

Harrison Marsh is on the iHemp NSW executive commitee and the co-founder of Otetto and a driving force behind the development and production of Living Canvas hempcrete SIPs. With a strong background in residential construction, Harrison brings practical building expertise together with a passion for sustainable materials and innovation.
